Kodappanakkal Tharavaadu : The Power of Ayurvedic and Spiritual Eminence.
The beginning of a legendary life.
The family of Panakkadu Pookkoya Thangal has an age-old reputation in this field of medication. Expertise in Ayurveda has been one of the distinguished flairs of the multifaceted and legendary Panakkaadu P.M.S.A Thangal. He was born in the year 1917, as the son of Sayyid Muhammad Koyanjikkoya Thangal and Ummuhanih beevi. Later, the name, Puthiya Maliyekkal Sayyid Muhammed Pookkoya Thangal aka P.M.S.A Pookkoya Thangal became an integral part of the spiritual, social and political circle of Kerala.
Inheritance of a legacy.
It was his uncle Sayyid Ali Pookkoya Thangal, who brought up Pookkoya Thangal, who lost his father in a very tender age. A renowned Sufi and a traditional medical practitioner, Sayyid had no children of his own. Sayyid, popularly known as the blind Thangal Grandpa passed away handing over all his ancestorel wealth and knowledge in the field of medicine when Pookkoya Thangal was just a teenager of fifteen years. Later, history witnessed the prosperity of Pookkoya Thangal, which even surpassed that of his uncle.
Blessings from above
From the time of great grand fathersKodappanakkal Tharavadu has been a source of support and help for the natives and villages of the neighbourhood. Whether it is a question regarding the intricacies of law or medicine, the tharavadu remained the last word. However, ever since Pookkoya Thangal had become the head of this age-old traditional heritage, its prosperity and fame crossed oceans to reach even remote countries. Among their multitudes of abilities,it was their role in the field of medical practice that earned them much fame. Like the first forefather Adam, their excellence was so great that it seemed as if the almighty Allah himself had blessed them directly, providing them with solutions for each problem. Thangal’s long and detailed prescriptions for medicines, other records about the illnesses and the solutions looked like ancient calligraphies. The successors and followers of Thangal still use these long prescriptions. Actually, these are the teachings by Sufis which are incomprehensible for ordinary minds.
